Position Purpose This position assists the Athletic Director with the athletics programs and activities; provides information and serves as a resource. Assists to achieve defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines. Essential Job Functions Assist in the selection of coaches. Coordinate the hiring process of coaches in assigned sport. Work with coaches to maintain the total athletic program. Assist in the evaluation of the coaching staff. Coordinate athletic events with calendars of the school system and high school. Check facilities before athletic events in sports assigned. Assist in the coordination of athletic award programs. Keep up to date on all IHSAA eligibility and certification dates. Keep up to date on all IHSAA rules and regulations, including new legislation. Schedule & coordinate all transportation requests for the entire athletic department. Attend all IHSAA, Marion County, Conference Indiana meetings. Coordinate all Vertical Alignment Responsibilities with the Middle School Athletic Director and high school coaches. Coordinate all Athletic Website and social media updates on a daily basis. Coordinate & maintain an athletic facility calendar. Organizational Management Responsibilities Supervise coaches in the sports assigned. Coordinate with the coach for all equipment inventories at the end of each season in the sports assigned and assist them with maintaining a budget. Supervise events and coordinate appropriate supervision. Supervise workers, officials, visiting teams, coaches, students, and visitors at athletic contests. Organize and supervise the IHSAA, Conference, and Marion County events. Manage tournaments in the sports assigned. Assist the Athletic Director at events as needed. Prepare a financial report at the conclusion of each tournament supervised. Prepare officials requisitions for assigned events. Interpersonal Skill and Communication Responsibilities Coordinate the scheduling of the sports in which you are assigned. Coordinate parent/athlete meetings with the coaches in the sports assigned. Coordinate the website and social media posts to promote our student athletes and the athletic department. Special Project Assignments Assist the Athletic Director by attending Adult Booster Club meetings. Assist the Athletic Director by soliciting program partnerships. Assist the Athletic Director in hosting all IHSAA tournaments. Assist the Athletic Director in developing ideas to increase spectator attendance. Equipment Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, calculator, and telephone. Travel Requirements Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Pay Rate Administrative Pay Schedule. Work Schedule Based on Contract. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of athletics, athletic programs, and physical fitness. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding school district athletic programs, safety and health, and other areas under responsibility. Ability to assist on the planning of projects and programs. Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to assist on the evaluation, development and implementation of athletic programs, activities and events, and make effective recommendations related to those areas. Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Excellent relationship building skills. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Seldom = Less than 25% Occasional = 26 to 50% Often = 51 to 75% Very Frequent = greater than 75% License / Registration / Certification Valid Administrative license and Indiana State Teaching license. Education BA Degree in related field. Experience Previous experience is preferred. Varsity head coaching experience in at least one sport and coaching experience in a variety of sports is preferred.
