Essential Duties and Responsibilities: An assistant food safety manager is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of food safety programs. They ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and company standards, working under the direction of a food safety manager.
- Continued pursuit of excellence and growth of a Food Safety Culture
- Assist in establishing and maintaining a food safety program.
- Assist in completing related paperwork.
- Writing and reviewing SOPs.
- Participating in audits.
- Responsible for weekly walkthroughs and following up on corrective actions.
- Validation checks of programs (internal and external).
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Experience, Education, and Licensure/Certification Requirements: - Agriculture or Food Safety Degree or related bachelor's degree with experience
Required Skills/Abilities: - Familiarity with FSSC/ISO 22000, ISO 9001, Global GAP, and HACCP/PRPs.
- Good Interpersonal skills and communication.
- Comfortable with relaying information - training operators
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train staff.
- Thorough understanding of quality control standards and methodologies.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production in the food industry.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) or related software.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, loud, and labor-intensive environment in variable temperatures (from outdoor heat to indoor refrigerated coolers).
- Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Environmental tolerance: Depending on the specific facility, you may be exposed to various environmental conditions for extended periods, including loud noise, busy production areas, and manufacturing environments.
- Assertiveness: You may need to tactfully enforce safety procedures and ensure compliance among diverse employees and officials.
