PRIMARY FUNCTION:

• Performs as an experienced Internal Combustion Engine Mechanic.
• Work in all phases of mobile equipment repair and maintenance: repair, inspect, diagnose, test, adjust, internal combustion engines, auxiliaries, chassis, drives, dc electrical components, driven parts of all self-propelled, stationary and portable equipment.
• Is able to overhaul all types of motorized equipment powered by internal combustion engine.
• Diagnoses failures and recommends corrective action to prevent reoccurrence. Performs safety checks, DOT inspections and required paper work as needed.
• Types of equipment to be maintained include, but are not limited to, autos, pickups, on/off highway trucks, trailers, wheel/track tractors, loaders, farm implements, engines, transmissions, electrical systems, mobile air conditioning systems, drive trains, frames, brakes, power take-off, hydraulic systems and miscellaneous components and attachments.

1. Performs the inspection, testing, and diagnoses of mobile equipment to determine the nature of needed repairs and maintenance.
2. In performance of these functions, incumbent uses repair manuals, operator manuals, blueprints, sketches, written or oral specifications and instructions.
3. Disassembles, repairs and assembles all types of internal combustion engines and other related component parts. Checks for flaws, cracks, and worn parts. Makes necessary repairs, adjustments, and modifications where required. Performs maintenance service such as tune-ups, AC repair, oil changes, etc. Operates equipment to check on work performed.
4. Prepares parts list for needed repairs.
5. Checks, repairs and/or adjusts all electrical, hydraulic and mechanical components of motorized equipment.
6. Inspects all completed jobs to ensure work is performed properly.
7. Works with General Superintendent, Mechanical Equipment Lead ICE Mechanic and other company supervisors in identifying problems related to mobile equipment.
8. Responsible for preparation and clean-up of the job site.
9. Maintains work order records and equipment file folder information as directed.
10. Enters, edits and searches computer database for mobile equipment information as needed.
11. Reads and understands equipment repair and specification manuals for proper maintenance of mobile equipment.
12. Must possess appropriate certifications and licenses.
