Position Summary: Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Research Coordinator Seagrass Ecology, Harbor Branch Oceanic Institute - Fort Pierce, FL.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the compilation and analysis of environmental data into written reports and publications. Reads scientific literature to increase familiarity with field in order to lead scientific writing and data analyses.
- Leads a team in the collection of field samples (e.g., seawater, phytoplankton, macroalgae, seagrasses, and fauna for genetic, nutrient, or stable isotope analysis) and data using such instruments as remotely operated vehicles, GoPros, Li-Cor, Hanna, and/or YSI.
- Coordinates the laboratory processing of water, phytoplankton, macrophytes, and fauna samples.
- Manages the lab database from data collection to analysis.
- Oversees the Harbor Branch Seagrass Nursery and macroalgal production facility and coordinates task schedules for technicians, students, and volunteers.
- Coordinates and leads the field collections, experiments, data management, statistical analyses, and scientific writing of research technicians and graduate students.
- Responsible for management of lab website and social media.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.
Valid Florida Driver's License or the ability to obtain a Florida driver's license within 30 days of employment required.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. required.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science or related field.
Three years of applicable experience with a bachelor's degree.
One year of applicable experience with a master's degree.
Experience in data management, statistical analysis, and use of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Access.
Record of scientific publishing.
Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and managers and work collaboratively.
Self-motivated and have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience with operating small boats, following standard operating procedures, algal/fauna identification, and scientific diving.
Salary: $43,014 - $49,000 per year.
